Our Young Leaders Class is a respite program coupled with a unique curriculum that will introduce students to important topics such as work ethic, attitude, communication skills, time management, problem-solving, acting as a team player, self confidence, ability to accept and learn from criticism, flexibility/adaptability and working well under pressure, personal hygiene, nutrition, and how your body talks. Each class will include a recreational activity as well! Class Instructors will use a variety of instructional techniques including video modeling, role-playing, visuals, and hands on learning to drive the content home.
WHO: Transition-aged students with any developmental disability that want to work in a community-based setting, or individuals that were previously employed with any developmental disability that want to re-enter community-based employment. This class is geared for students aged 18-30.
CURRICULUM: This class will be taught by teachers and staff from DSAW-Family Services. Each week will focus on skills in each of three areas: social, employment, and health/wellness.
WHEN: First and second Fridays of the month from 7pm - 9pm

What do we do on the other Fridays of the month? We encourage participants to schedule their OWN social/recreational time on the third Friday. On the last Friday of the month, GiGi's Playhouse offers a FREE Fantastic Friends group for individuals 18 and older!
