Green Bay: Annual Midwest Crane Count

Calling all early birds! DSAW-GB is meeting up at the Annual Midwest Crane Count. This is an exciting adventure for anyone! Wear warm clothes and boots. Bring binoculars and a thermos of hot cocoa to keep you warm! Notepads and pencils will be provided to keep track of your crane counts. You can stay in your car or bring a lawn chair and blanket to sit outside near your car.

All individuals attending must have an adult accompany them during the event.

Event Info

Each year in mid-April, over 1,600 volunteers travel to their local wetlands and favorite birding locations to participate in the Crane Count. This annual survey of Sandhill and Whooping Cranes spans over 120 counties in six states of the upper Midwest, including Wisconsin and portions of Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota.
